PASTOR JOSEPH WAN (宛春宁)
Joseph Wan was born in China in 1972. He entered Beijing University of Science and Technology in 1989 and received his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Physical Chemistry in 1993. He entered Beijing Sports University in 1995 for further studies and received a Master Degree in Biomechanics in 1998. After working for a few years, he went on to obtain a Ph.D. in education in 2008.
From 2003 to 2010, Joseph Wan worked as a reporter for China Central Television. After becoming a Christian in 2006, he experienced a lot of struggles because of the conflict between his faith and work. In 2010, he resigned his job in CCTV and joined a Christian Education Organization to teach a biblical parenting course. In 7 years, more than 10,000 families benefited from this class. In 2014, Joseph Wan started to serve as a production manager in a Christian video company. As the most professional internet video company in Chinese Christian circle, they made nearly 1,000 Chinese Christians’ testimony videos. Joseph Wan also served as a host of a short preaching video called “Jingyu (境喻).”
Joseph Wan was called into full time pastoral ministry and attended Reformed Theological Seminary (Jackson, MS) from 2017-2021. He graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in May 2021 and started to serve in our church in June 2021. After a year of internship, he was ordained and installed as our new pastor on October 7th, 2022.
Joseph’s wife is Christina who used to be a professional teacher of Chinese dancing in Beijing. Christina is now assisting Joseph’s reach out ministry in our church, including teaching dance classes to congregational members and friends.
